Abstract

This article analyzes the main tensions between sovereign debt management for Argentina as part of the global periphery. These tensions refer especially to the guarantee of human rights, which are used as a basic parameter of what should be considered a life worth living, and yet are set against the burden of debt. It is a trade-off between the sustainability of debt or the sustainability of life. The creditors, with the IMF as their proxy, feed this trade-off systematically, damaging the living conditions of the population. The article reviews the foundations of this opposition and then presents a synthetic review of recent public debt management and its main differences.
