The history of Marxism is that of its diverse and conflicting traditions. There are, rather, Marxisms in the plural. Marxisms that sometimes require a demonym -European, Latin American-; and other times a conjunction -an and that links them to feminism, or to nation, or to indigenism-.

In this dossier we propose to address one of those conjunctions: Marxism and nation. Sometimes it has been a cause for encounters, other times for elaborating a distance. But in the zone that these words delimit, formidable interventions have taken place and original thoughts have been inscribed.

What remains today of those searches? In what sense are they updated? What genealogies does this conjunction allow us to construct? What works and names does it ask us to explore? Marxism is not, we believe, a thought of the past, but a critical force in the present, mixed, disassembled, assembled, deviated. We aim for this dossier to allow us to traverse those earlier modes and the present ones, placing alongside them the word nation, no less laden with problems and promises.
