The first question that comes to mind upon finishing this book is "what are we if not the legacy we leave behind?". Deni Alfaro Rubbo's book The Peripheral Labyrinth: Mariátegui's Adventures in Latin America, published in 2021, aims to trace the trajectory of the reception of José Carlos Mariátegui's writings by intellectuals who followed him. To this end, the author divides the book into three parts, comprising chapters and subchapters. The book also includes a preface by Michael Löwy (an intellectual who also has one of the book's chapters dedicated to his writings), a presentation by Ruy Braga, and an epilogue by Miguel Mazzeo. The book is an abridged version of the doctoral thesis defended by Rubbo in 2018, at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) of USP.
