Central America facing a change of paradigms and an emancipatory horizon: the re-foundation of the state and the nation

The essay provides an overview of the main contemporary debates taking
place in Central America, highlighting the importance of issues associated with ethnic,
cultural and political identities. It highlights the emergence, at the global level, of
currents of critical or alternative thought, which are emerging in response to the crisis
and exhaustion of neoliberal capitalism. Among the emerging eidetic trends, special
attention is drawn to three: environmentalism, feminism and Indianism, and their
modulations in Central America are explored, especially the Mayan platforms.
