Of Sicilian origin, Francesca Gargallo studied Philosophy in Rome and Latin American Studies in Mexico. Her production includes the books Ideas feministas latinoamericanas; Feminismos desde Abya Yala and Las bordadoras de arte. She also writes poetry and has published novels. Interviewed by Gustavo Cruz and Agustina Fornero, she talks here about her intellectual journey, her feminist militancy, the complex links between languages and nation-states, her criticism of the idea of Latin America, her interest in the struggles of indigenous women, her respect for the word and dialogue as forms of work, the importance of the aesthetic dimension, the place of dialogue in different feminist traditions, feminism as an epistemology that questions and inverts hierarchies.
