In this paper we propose to identify the stages that both the policies to promote mining extractivism, mainly promoted by successive national governments, and the social resistance that these generate in the territories since the beginning of the new millennium in Argentina went through. We refer to the context of mining model expansion and the new geopolitical situation marked by a narrative associated with the energy transition. We present a periodization that starts from the moment in which socio-environmental movements were articulated. We analyze their trajectory and conflicts that were most relevant in each period until December 2023.
