Cabral, Freire y la descolonización académica en el siglo XX

Resumen

Este artículo interroga el impacto de la filosofía, las ideas y la práctica de dos académicos descoloniales del siglo XX. Se centra en los escritos de Amílcar Cabral y Paulo Freire, particularmente su uso de la liberación nacional y la cultura como mecanismo para concientizar al pueblo. Proporciona una breve historia del movimiento para descolonizar la educación en África desde la independencia hasta principios del siglo XXI. El artículo examina La Política de la Educación de Paulo Freire y Unidad y Lucha de Amílcar Cabral como textos fundacionales para examinar el movimiento de descolonización. La cultura es central en las ideas y filosofías de los escritos de estos dos pensadores descoloniales. Freire y Cabral se intersectan intelectual, filosófica y prácticamente a través de sus exámenes de la cultura y la concientización. La conexión entre Cabral y Freire se extiende más allá de un mero ejercicio académico hacia intercambios sobre el terreno. El intercambio práctico de ideas, pedagogía y práctica de Paulo Freire en Guinea-Bissau desde 1975-1980, como se documenta en Pedagogía en Proceso (1978), materializó la relación entre las ideas y la filosofía de estos dos pensadores (Chianca & Ceccon, 2017). Finalmente, basándose en los escritos de Cabral y Freire, el ensayo proporciona cuatro recomendaciones clave para avanzar el movimiento por la descolonización, a saber: abrazar la cultura del pueblo como un sitio de lucha, participar en diálogos internos de clase, educar políticamente a la comunidad académica, y crear instituciones para promover los debates descoloniales más allá de la academia.
