Digitalización y control del trabajo en almacenes logísticos. Un estudio sobre el centro de distribución de MercadoLibre en Argentina

Este artículo analiza el caso del centro de distribución de MercadoLibre en la Provincia de Buenos Aires como un ejemplo paradigmático de reorganización del trabajo en el capitalismo contemporáneo, en el cual la digitalización emerge como una dimensión central, en tanto organiza distintos planos de control de la fuerza de trabajo y se integra con una estrategia empresarial que combina valorización simbólica e incentivos materiales para moldear un ethos organizacional acorde con las necesidades de la firma.
El estudio se basa en trabajo de campo cualitativo realizado entre 2023 y 2024, que incluyó entrevistas semiestructuradas con trabajadores de almacén y reclutadores en Argentina, así como el análisis de fuentes secundarias y documentos propios de la empresa que dan cuenta de su discurso corporativo. El análisis explora cómo se monitorea el desempeño, y se implementan dispositivos digitales.
La incorporación de tecnologías de escaneo ha estandarizado al trabajo y éste se ha vuelto monótono y repetitivo. La necesidad de moldear el comportamiento y la moral de los trabajadores revela hasta qué punto el proceso laboral se ha convertido en abstracto y descalificado, exigiendo cada vez menos habilidades específicas y más docilidad. En este sentido, el caso de MercadoLibre permite observar cómo el nuevo ethos del capitalismo digital se pone al servicio de una gestión científica del trabajo que, lejos de emancipar, reproduce formas renovadas de control y disciplinamiento laboral.
