Abstract

The following contribution is conceived as an invitation to debate the potential of an interdisciplinary practice of anthropology beyond the scope of the social sciences and the humanities in current Argentina. Through an exercise of reflexive objectivation following the transition of a social anthropologist to the field of Neuroengineering, we present some of the main misunderstandings, interpellations and obstacles met, in order to pose a series of fundamental questions on the boundaries of anthropology, the training of its practitioners and the ways in which many of them conceive the discipline and perform their relationship to it. Finally, we consider some of the major institutional challenges involved in an interdisciplinary anthropology-based practice in Argentina and we propose some questions regarding its conceptualization and evaluation on the hands of the scientific community and its local sponsoring agencies that we consider deserving of an explicit and collective consideration.
