Abstract

This paper presents findings and thoughts on the relationship between the work of university teachers and care tasks in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic which are part of my Master's thesis in Cultural Studies, called “College at Home. Conflicts and Conciliations between Paid Work and Care Work. Experiences and Stories of University Teachers during the COVID-19 Pandemic”. The research work carried out focused on investigating the tensions generated around domestic work and care tasks and their relationship with the working life of female university teachers, in a context of coexistence between the institutionalization of feminist struggles and discourses and a significant alteration of daily routines due to mandatory social isolation policies established to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Starting from a counterpoint between feminist epistemologies, cultural studies and concepts from authors framed within the “affective turn”, in this paper we share a mapping that condenses meaning configurations surrounding the care work mentioned by the interviewees in their accounts.
