Abstract

This article describes the political-religious identities produced by the municipal government of San Miguel. These identities are manifested in three aspects: the specifically religious one, the one that refers to the national and the interpellation of families. For this purpose, this article analyzes the celebration in which the religious component appears with greater prominence: The Patronal Festival of San Miguel Arcángel; the way in which the patriotic dimension appears in these celebrations; and the collective subject that is questioned: families. In this way, we seek to understand the way in which the institutional political sphere constructs an identity that articulates a particular religious belonging, the Catholic Church, a way of thinking and living Argentina and the social subject that is the recipient of that identity: families.
