Abstract

The objective of this paper is to examine the coexistence between the distribution practices of conventional media and the new practices of digital platforms, regarding narcocorridos of the Movimiento Alterado, during the period of restructuring of the industry's business model. The hypothesis is that the Movimiento Alterado, catalyzed what would ultimately become new distribution and consumption practices, where commercial interests are crucial in the configuration and direction of the content. The above is achieved through formal and informal interviews carried out with musical production agents, such as producers, sales programmers, radio programmers and managers. Reviewing the transition of popular music to a digital environment reveals the complementarity of distribution between platforms, as well as the link between artists, industry and fans.
