La “cocina” de una etnografía sobre la producción y consumo de festejos de cumpleaños infantiles

Abstract

This article offers an analytic description of the research process resulting in a doctoral dissertation presented in 2019, entitled “You are going to have a lot of fun! How boys and girls celebrate their birthdays at commercial venues in contemporary Córdoba”. To this effect, I firstly explain how the research interest originated, and the redefinitions that were made. Afterwards, I present the theoretical and analytical framework used to approach these celebratory performances taking place at commodified spaces. Subsequently, I describe the different methodological strategies at stake for the construction of the ethnographic data. Lastly, I unfold some considerations that emerged while going over my own steps as a researcher of performances associated with a moment in the life cycle.
